Food Guide
I have one word to describe the food of Uruguay: “Fresh”. The beef is grass fed from the local ranchos. The fish is brought in daily from the local waters. The produce will amaze you with the flavors.
Uruguay is famous for the beef and more information on the different cuts is offered below, but do not be afraid to order fish (pescado) or pasta if your tastes are more in that direction. The foods tend to be simply prepared and let the flavors of the fresh ingredients come through. Menus are typically a la carte, so think about whether you want an apetizer, salad and/or side dish with your hunk of beef or freshly prepared fish.
To give you a head start on what you may want to dine on during your stay in Montevideo we have prepared a couple of dining guides for fine and casual dining. They are downloadable in PDF format so you can print them out and toss them into your cruise paperwork.
